Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail has launched their Rémy Martin Louis XIII Rare Cask Cognac which is being spoken of  as “supremely rare”. The exclusivity and rarity makes me want a taste even more!

Through a combination of factors such as climate and humidity during its ageing, the cask has developed an extra strength of 43.8 instead of 40 degrees. Handcrafted in black crystal, more than 50 operations are necessary to make a Louis XIII decanter, all of which must be executed by a team of some 20 master craftsmen working together before the glass cools. For the first time in the history of Louis XIII, cellar master Pierrette Trichet has decided to present one cask as a special edition to be enjoyed by connoisseurs.

The neck of the decanter is dressed in palladium and is  presented in a coffret forged in metal. Mirrors and internal lighting aim to display the lustre of the black crystal, and the neck of the decanter is secured by a metal clasp that is designed to present the black crystal stopper like a precious jewel.

The coffret is embellished with a quatrefoil design inspired by the royal fleur-de-lys of France, aiming to offer a contemporary rendition of a traditional motif that celebrates the historic roots of Louis XIII.

Only 786 bottles are available worldwide and each bottle comes for a price of €10,000 (or $15,000 USD).
